Casual Friday: Continuation of Nocturnes in Black

I finished my week of wearing black monochromatic ensembles, completely unintentionally, quite strong, with this black a-line cotton skirt from American Apparel paired with the cream and black striped cotton tee shirt from Zara. Zara is constantly splattered across street style and fashion blogs, looking charming and magnificent, however, every single time I have entered a store, I am disgusted with the rampant display of cheap, synthetic fabrics for wildly inflated prices. While out in San Francisco in November, I found two of these boat neck cut shirts for a very reasonable price and was delighted to discover they were woven from something that, at least at one point, had existed beneath the earth and had sprouted forth in natural form. With its fitted waistband, the skirt couples with the shirt to give the illusion of a single piece, a dress, which I like, especially when wearing something like this to the office.

Along with the cognac and black leather shoes with the kitten heel, I found this cream leather belt over the weekend while consignment exploring with the filmmaker. I have another cream leather belt, which I adore, however, the medallion-like buckle can be a bit over the top, depending on the occasion. I believe this basic gold accented cream belt will become a closet staple, especially if it fits through some of my denim, as I suspect it will, as long as it is not too wide.

These black suede peep-toe heels are probably the most comfortable shoes I own; I have meandered around less than graciously, also known as stumbling, the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan enough to be confident in this assertion. With the open toe, I love the look of a bold tight, in this case, metallic gold and black patterned.

My tried and true golden rose earrings, and lucite encased barbed wire bangle, two accessories of which I will never tire; worth every penny.

  4. This dress is very pretty on you! I have been eyeing some metallic jeans from Zara for a long time, but they are so EXPENSIVE! Way too much so for me, at least. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my page!
