Cleanliness, Godliness, and a Scarf

The apartment that I am renting for vacation in Paris is nearly perfect, at least in terms of an economic and geographic convenience perspective. Although it is more than a bit small, this is fine and sufficient for a single person. Unfortunately, being a studio at the top of a six floor old, typical Parisian building, squeezed tight between the roofs of the other buildings, the area and volume of the bathroom leave something to be desired. The tub is hidden under a slanting ceiling, so, showering is pretty much impossible for anyone over five foot and a bath is the only option. Earlier today, between running around with a horde of tourists at Versailles Palace and dinner at a very quiet, very local bistro, I debated braving the cooler waters and bathing gymnastics required to clean myself. Ultimately, I declined, and instead opted for wrapping my potentially mildly soiled hair in a large top knot, contorted to even further extremes with the arguably necessary addition of a leopard silk scarf. The scarf is quite long, so had to be wrapped a few times, adding an elongation effect to the bun, as though my hair were one of the heads of those women in Africa who lavish their neck with heavy golden rings. With the rest of my outfit rather simple, black, cream, and gold, with a plain boat neck tee shirt worn with a black skirt and brown leather boots, the leopard affixed to this almost pompous structure was my flair for the evening.
