I was not familiar with this particular designer,
Hakaan, before stumbling across this collection in my daily perusing of
online treasures, secrets, flotsam, and jetsam. Immediately, I was struck with not only the simple grace and intensity of his pieces, with a focus on structure and clean lines, highlighting basic colors such as black, white, red, and navy, but with his use of the contrast of fabric and skin, his acknowledgment and attention to a woman's skin as an inherent medium within fashion design. In these pieces, he embraces skin and adheres to the skin's contours in his choice of draping, accenting different parts of the female body: chest, stomach, rib, clavicle and neck, shoulder, and leg.
