When Appliances Lack Moderation

When I first moved into my apartment, my refrigerator featured a rather temperate climate; my eggs, butter, cheeses, meats, fruits, and vegetables could all relax together, basking in the almost balmy breeze of the door swinging opened and closed. Not surprisingly, many of these delicious food items, particularly those of the dairy variety, were quickly retired to the trash. A few dubious electric bills, in which my air conditioning unit was the more likely and conspicuous culprit, and some complaints to my building manager later, I have now, for recent months, have enjoyed a newer machine. The other side was certainly greener, in that various experimental mold cultures could be found on my brie and my manchego, however, I now frequently return home to frozen carrots. Sigh.
